On May 10th, the Houses of Ridley all gathered for one final spirit event, the legendary House Barbecue. As the scent of sizzling burgers wafted through the air, this was more than your average cookout. Ridley’s campus came alive with house spirit and zeal, where end-of-the-year celebrations, community, and camaraderie unite. Students all lined up under bright spring skies, ending the night with the colour war.

With Mr. Jones manning the grill, the backyard transformed into a scene of summer. Music was playing, and students lounged with plates piled high and smiles on their faces. Games of pickleball, can jam, and spikeball broke out across the lawn, and excited laughter was the sound of the evening. Even Mr. Mitchell’s dogs made a guest appearance.

Whether it was the burgers cooked to perfection or the team spirit, Merritt North House made the house BBQ one for the books.

With full stomachs and nervous energy throughout the air, the next event of the evening was colour war. The mad dance of powdered paint and water guns, colour wars really brought the sometimes chaotic, but overall uniting culture that Ridley always brings. Something that connects all its students, no matter what. It’s part of what makes Ridley unique. No matter if this was your first house day or your last, there is no doubt this special event brought your house closer together, and even if you don’t know it, these are the memories that last a lifetime (especially for those of us whose hair was pink for several weeks!). Here’s to another great house barbeque, Tigers!
