Bonjour Québec City!
Bonjour Québec City! By Rio Nishimura ’26, Contributor; Edited by Sunny Zhao, Staff Editor Student LIFE

Over the Easter break, a group of students explored Quebec and its rich history. As many of you know, the official language of Quebec is French, and it was very eye-opening to see the gradual shift in the language during the bus ride.
Although spending 12 hours was very hard on our bodies, we instantly knew it was worth it the moment we stepped into beautiful Québec City. The architecture was breathtaking, and it felt as if we were in Europe. We went on a walking tour, and the guide explained Quebec’s interesting history. This new knowledge enriched our perspective on the city and made the trip even more special – the Canadian history shifted there!
After the tours, we enjoyed dinner at Shake Shack, which turned out to be one of our best memories. There were various traditional Quebec dishes, and everything tasted delicious with maple syrup – even the bean soup! Once we were full, we danced to French songs and played a wooden instrument made from local wood. Although we had challenges understanding the lyrics and instructions, the people there were very welcoming and made us feel included. At the end of all the activities, we got to make our own maple taffy. This wholesome experience not only warmed our hearts but also gave us the energy to enjoy more adventures to come!
Overall, this trip allowed us to have new insights into a different side of Canada and think about what it means for different cultures to coexist. We would encourage everyone to go on this trip next year!
