On 12th April 2025, our senior upper schoolers attended the annual Cadet Ball at Club Italia. It was a sight to see - all boys looking sharp in their uniforms alongside the girls in colorful dresses, many following this year’s theme Old Hollywood. Gone are the dated and faded red uniforms, and the new fully black cadet uniforms made their full debut at the ball, beautifully complementing the array of colourful dresses

The night started on our very own campus. Students started arriving around 5, and thankfully, it was bright and sunny. Bring on those poses, it’s picture time! Students gathered at different locations, the arches, near the Hank Tank, chapel, and more to get their perfect photos. Half an hour later, it was time to board the buses! Off we go to cadet ball!

A short 15-minute trip led the students to Club Italia, where once again, they had a chance to socialize and click lots of photos. As the gates to the main hall opened, they were given a warm welcome by Headmaster Kidd, Mr. Postma, and prefects, leading them to their assigned tables.

The food was the cherry on top for the entire evening. It started out with traditional Italian starters and main course, along with our very own candy bar! We know where our sour candy lovers spent the evening. As we ate, there was a photo booth, and backdrop available for yet more photos! To add to it all, we had a wonderful sunset! Talk about beautiful coincidences. Many students rushed out with their friends, battling the chilly breeze for that one perfect snap. Might I say, those beautiful hues in the sky were absolutely worth it.

Finally, it was time to hit the dance floor! The DJ played some upbeat, awesome music, as the students came to the floor to show us their moveqs! The night got even better when some of the faculty, and heads of houses joined in. As the night went on, a large collection of songs played, and there was something for everyone to groove to.

Yet another one of Ridley’s traditions, this night was memorable and thanks to the wonderful committee for putting it together. Proms may be okay, but I think Cadet Ball takes the cake for high school dances!
